TIES Observation sessions in Spain and France
Date: May 3-7 2010
A group of 22 representatives of MEDA institutions participated in the first technical activity of the TIES project, the Observation Sessions. The activity happened from May 3-4 at the University of Alicante, Spain, and from May 6-7 at the University Pierre Mendès France, France.
Both UA and UMPF have opened their doors to the participants, with the intent to demonstrate the day-to-day practical elements of how international relations are organised in each university, including demonstration of IT tools, and structural elements such as how the different offices involved in IR are organised.
The in-house observation had the goal to provide high-level university management (Vice-Chancellors, IR or Cooperation Directors) and IRO staff with the opportunity to share ideas and gather potential good practice for transfer with European counterparts. Overall, the Observations sessions intended to demonstrate how IR can be part of a HE institution’s mission, alongside teaching and research. What is more, the activity served as an introduction to the overall project objectives and provide opportunities to discuss the applicability and transferability of these models.
